Plastic soup

This illustration I made for a challenge of ourplanetweek.
I grew up on the island Texel in the north of the Netherlands and we went fishing for shrimps in the summer. Now I am doing the same with my kids to explore nature and see what is living in the North Sea. Last summer we catcher a lot of tiny hermit crabs. (But when I was a kid I never catched one of those.) After some research I found out that the tiny hermit crab originally lives in the Mediterranean Sea and the adjacent Atlantic, but because of the climate change they now feel at home in the North Sea…

Talking about homes for these little fellows (they move a lot in their lifetime when they grow bigger) The hermit crab nowadays also found new houses like this plastic one in their flora and fauna... I read an article that it is possible to make bioplastic from seaweed is one of the most environmental friendly.
